Rogue Lawyer – John Grisham – A Book Review by Bernice

Summer Reading List Special Review

Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham

A Book Review by Bernice

Rating: ★★★★½

This was like reading a well crafted and entertaining police drama/ comedy “made for TV” series.  I mean this in the nicest possible way, it was easy to read… fun to digest and while I could walk away at any time… I looked forward relaxing on the couch and getting back into the story.

I liked that there was sex but there wasn’t an undo amount of graphic sex that added nothing to the story line but soft porn… I liked there were references to complicated relationships but no lengthy soapbox proselytizing.

And finally in the end I liked the lack of judgement levied by the author through his characters on the state of affairs… the book is not a romp by any means, but it’s fun to read, there are moments of humor, moments of anger and moments of apathy… while not a feel good ending, definitely an ending. Leaves you feeling like you’re done. LIke the book has ended but the story is still going on… somewhere.

Perfect summer read.
