Dracula by Bram Stoker ~ A book review by Bernice

Dracula
By Bram Stoker

Rating: ★★★★★

Well, this book was both the hardest book I’ve read in a while and one of the most entertaining. From the beginning I was surprisingly swept up in the narrative style and I really enjoyed the characters, their actions, their quirks, and the fantastic language of the 1800’s.

OK. I’ll admit it now. I saw that vampire movie with Keanu Reeves.. ’cause who doesn’t love a good Vampire Movie… and if you think this book is like that movie, you are mistaken.

As is true with almost every book made into a movie… You should read the book.

Now, I will point out that according to Wiki-pedia this novel was written in 1897. As you would imagine there is a bit of a difference between words and their meaning, this was the reason it took me so long to finish this book.

The words, the phrases, while on the one hand literally tell a tale of action, adventure, horror and victory…. and on the other hand their existence serves to paint a picture of a time long gone, …. you know it’s not necessarily by what they said… but by how they said it.

I really enjoyed this book and I would said it is NOT light reading. It’s a great book that takes some dedication and determination to finish… and the finish is completely and absolutely worth it!
