Game of Thrones; Book one of A Song of Ice and Fire
by George R.R. Martin
I enjoyed this book for several reasons.
First, the author built the stories around people and has presented the tale in the same way. This book completely suited my ADD personality… I never had a moment to wonder “what ever happened to…” because the author would always bring me back. This book is like my craft room…. The walls and shelves stacked with hundreds of trinkets and bobbles waiting to be used… and in the middle a HUGE empty table. I can build my craft in stages. When I tire of one aspect, I can address another until at times, I join the seperately built pieces then look down at what is left to build.
Secondly, so well written. My goodness gracious… this first book is so well written I barely skipped through any of the descriptive narrative. (What? I’ve already admitted to ADD even the best author sometimes tries too hard to get me to the battlefield, or victory summit, or tragic realization… I GET IT! I only need to read it once and one way, thank you)
Finally, I absolutely love a good book. This, my friends is a good book. If you enjoy honor, treachery, kings, lords, savages and magic… you will enjoy this book.
